Al Guevara, FACHE, VP of Operations, and Scott Briner, FACHE, Administrative Director of Marketing/Business Director, of Brazosport Regional Health System (BRHS) both recently became a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the nation’s leading professional society for healthcare leaders. Special Presentation of Woven Harmony Slated for Local Cancer Patients, Cancer Survivors and Caregivers at BRHS
On Thursday, February, 14 at 3:00pm, Brazosport Regional Health System and the Brazosport Health Foundation will feature a special presentation, Woven Harmony. This is a special performance, free of charge, for cancer patients, cancer survivors and their caregivers. Woven Harmony is a multi-media presentation by nationally recognized husband and wife team Robert Bluestone, classical guitarist and caretaker; and Rebecca Bluestone, tapestry artist and ovarian cancer survivor. Brazosport Regional Health System Creates New Autism Support Group
According to the Centers for Disease Control, 1 in 150 children were diagnosed with autism in 2007. In fact, 67 children are diagnosed each day. Brazosport Regional Health System recently created a new autism support group to help family and friends with loved ones who have autism. Brazosport Regional Health System Hosts NAMI Support Group
Brazosport Regional Health System will now host a NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) support group every 2nd Thursday of the month. The goal of the support group is to provide support to family and friends with loved ones who have a mental illness. According to NAMI, approximately 6 percent of the American population suffers from a mental illness, affecting 1 in 5 families. Click here to find out when the support group is.

Brazosport Regional Home Health Receives TMF Award for Improvement in Management of Oral Medications
Brazosport Regional Home Health, a division of Brazosport Regional Health System, recently received bronze status for Improvement in Management of Oral Medications from TMF, the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for Texas. Find out more here.

Tree of Remembrance Ceremony at Brazosport Regional Draws Large Crowd

Students at Brazoswood Receive Scholarship
Perioperative Services at Brazosport Regional Health System (BRHS) awarded four Brazoswood students with a $500 scholarship. Over the summer, students volunteered over 200 hours of there time to perioperative services and the Dow Women’s Center. Click here to read more.

    David White, RN and Director of Critical Care and Telemetry at Brazosport Regional Health System (BRHS) was recently honored and selected to speak at University of Houston-Victoria (UHV) President’s Annual Report on November 6, 2007.         Volunteers Announce Scholarship Winners
        This year, Brazosport Regional Volunteers generously awarded three scholarships to Brazosport Regional employees. Each recipient earned $1,500 in scholarship money, which $750 will be used each semester. Click here to find out who the lucky winners are.
          FREE Flu Shot Immunizations Sponsored by BRHS
          Flu season is right around the corner! Brazosport Regional Health System is offering their annual FREE flu shot immunization clinics for southern Brazoria County. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 36,000 deaths and 200,000 hospitalizations occur each year because of the flu.             New Hand Therapist Joins BRHS
            Please welcome Peggy Boineau, OTR, CHT to Brazosport Regional Health System (BRHS). Boineau joined Brazosport’s Outpatient Rehabilitation Services to serve as a Certified Hand Therapist. With the addition of Boineau, BRHS will employ the only two Certified Hand Therapists in Southern Brazoria County. Certified Hand Therapists provide specialized rehabilitation of the arm and hand.               Nazarene Church Donates Gifts to Brazosport Regional Health System
              The Church of the Nazarene recently donated two boxes overflowing with children toys to Brazosport Regional Health System (BRHS). The generous contribution gives BRHS the opportunity to provide toys to their acute inpatient pediatric unit. Click here to read more.
                Dr. Berger Speaks at Community Education Program on ED
                Dr. Berger, Urologist at Brazosport Urology, will be speaking about erectile dysfunction (ED) at Brazosport Regional Health System’s October’s community education program. ED, formally known as impotence, affects an average of 15 to 30 million American men. Although ED can be treatable for men of all ages, it can be harmful to a man’s self-image.                   BRHS Announces New Radiologist, Amish Dave, MD
                  Brazosport Regional Health System welcomes new radiologist, Amish Dave, MD to their compassionate team of physicians. For four years, Dr. Dave topped the charts in college and graduated on the Dean’s List from University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor Degree in Biological Science. Meet the new radiologist here.

                    Brazosport Regional Health System is pleased to welcome Khanh Ngoc Le, MD as the newest member of their compassionate and caring medical team.                         Want to lose weight Brazoria County? With the help of Betty McClain, a new weight loss support group is being started in the evening hours. The American Obesity Association (AOA) stated 127 million adults living in the United States are overweight or obese. Learn more about the group here.

                            First AAA Stent Graft Procedure Performed at BRHS
                            Dr. Alpesh Shah and the cardiac catheterization medical professionals at Brazosport Regional Health System (BRHS) performed their first abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) stent graft procedure on September 18, 2007. BRHS is currently expanding their cardiovascular care services, which in turn will open doors for many more invasive procedures similar to the one performed.
