FREE Flu Shots Sponsored by
Brazosport Regional Health System
Brazosport Regional Health System is gearing up for their annual FREE flu shot immunization clinics for southern Brazoria County. Each year, approximately 5%-20% of U.S. residents contract the flu and more than 200,000 people are hospitalized. An annual flu shot is the best way to reduce the chances of acquiring the virus.
The first flu shot clinic will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Freeport on Wednesday, October 29th from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM. The second clinic will take place at the Lake Jackson Civic Center on Thursday, October 30th from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM. The immunizations will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis and all participants must be 18 years of age or older. There is a limited amount of vaccine; therefore, arriving during scheduled hours does not guarantee availability of the vaccine.
Although everyone is welcome, people at high risk are priority. High risk people include any adult 65 years or older, health care workers, adults with chronic or immunocompromised conditions, and pregnant women. Pregnant women must have a written note from their obstetrician to receive a flu shot.
Influenza (flu) is a respiratory illness with symptoms like high fever, chills, dry cough, headache, runny or stuffy nose, sore throat, fatigue, and muscle aches. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends a yearly flu vaccine which protects you from getting sick or can make your illness milder.
Brazosport Regional invites you to skip flu season by participating in their annual FREE flu shot clinic on October 29th and October 30th. For more information, please call the flu shot line at 979-285-1585.
